Description
Amerex Halotron I Valve Stem Assembly, Brass Valve | 13288 | OEM

The Amerex 13288 is the OEM valve stem assembly for the brass valve Halotron I fire extinguisher family, specifically designed for the larger 11 lb and 15.5 lb models that use a hose and horn discharge assembly. This green-seal valve stem opens to release Halotron I agent when the lever is depressed during discharge and closes to maintain the pressure seal during standby storage.

Within the Amerex Halotron I line, valve stems differ by valve material. The smaller 1.4 to 5.5 lb fixed-nozzle models use aluminum valve assemblies and require the aluminum valve stem (P/N 14327). The larger 11 lb and 15.5 lb models with hose and horn use brass valve assemblies and require this P/N 13288 brass stem. Installing the wrong stem for the valve type will not achieve a proper seal. Confirm your extinguisher's valve material against the model specifications before ordering. As with all Amerex valve components, only OEM parts are acceptable: substitutes void the listing and warranty.

  • Confirm Valve Type First: This stem is for brass valve Halotron I models only. Aluminum valve models (1.4 to 5.5 lb, fixed nozzle) require the aluminum valve stem P/N 14327.
  • OEM Parts Only: Amerex states that generic and aftermarket valve stems, even those labeled as Amerex-type, do not meet UL requirements and void the extinguisher's listing and warranty.
  • Replacement at 6-Year Maintenance: The valve stem is replaced during the 6-year internal examination required under NFPA 10 or any time the valve is disassembled during recharge following discharge.
  • Lubricate per Manual: When installing, follow the Amerex service manual for lubrication of the valve stem o-ring and correct torque on reassembly.

How does the brass valve Halotron I differ from the aluminum valve version?

The larger 11 lb and 15.5 lb Halotron I units use a brass valve with a hose and horn discharge assembly, providing a longer effective range for the larger agent charge. The smaller 1.4 to 5.5 lb units use an aluminum valve with a fixed discharge nozzle. This difference in valve material means each requires a different valve stem at service time.

What is the green seal designation?

Amerex uses color-coded seals to identify valve components for specific agent families. The green seal on both Halotron I valve stems (brass P/N 13288 and aluminum P/N 14327) identifies them as Halotron I components, helping technicians select the correct parts from a service kit and avoid cross-contamination with valve components from other agent families.
