Description
Ansul Stainless Steel Braided Actuation Hose | 20 Inch | 32335

The Ansul 32335 is a 20-inch stainless steel braided actuation hose used in Ansul R-102 restaurant fire suppression systems. It provides the flexible connection between the AUTOMAN regulated release mechanism and each regulated actuator in the system, allowing for the slight misalignment, vibration, and positioning tolerances that exist between rigid piping and the actuator mounting points. Without this flexibility, the rigid actuation piping would place mechanical stress on the valve and actuator connections during installation and over time, creating a potential point of failure in the actuation circuit.

The hose uses the same 7/16-20 thread specification as the R-102 system's actuation fittings, so it connects directly to the AUTOMAN and actuator ports without adapters. The stainless steel braided construction resists the grease, heat, and moisture common to commercial kitchen environments and provides the strength to transmit the actuation pressure pulse reliably when the system fires. Ansul offers this hose in multiple lengths to suit different installation layouts: 20 inches (32335), 24 inches (32336), and longer options for more complex routing.

The R-102 system is a pre-engineered system under NFPA 17A. Any work involving actuation hoses must be performed by an Ansul certified distributor as part of the system's installation or service.

  • Correct Length Selection: Confirm the required hose length for the specific actuation connection in your system layout before ordering. Using an incorrect length can create slack that accumulates grease or routing problems that stress the hose ends.
  • Semiannual Professional Service: A qualified technician inspects the actuation hose for kinks, corrosion, loose fittings, or signs of wear at each required semiannual service interval.
  • Post-Discharge Inspection: After any system actuation, the actuation hose must be inspected and the full system certified before being returned to service.

What is the difference between this hose and the 24-inch version?

Both are the same stainless steel braided actuation hose in different lengths. The 20-inch version (32335) is used where the distance between the AUTOMAN or actuator port and the next connection point in the system layout requires this length. The 24-inch version (32336) serves positions requiring a longer run. Your system's installation layout and documentation specify which length is required at each connection point.

Can I substitute a longer hose and route the excess?

No. Using a hose longer than required for a connection can create slack loops that accumulate grease and may introduce kinks that restrict the actuation pressure pulse or create points of accelerated wear. Always use the correct length for each connection as specified in the system design.

Does this hose also serve as an agent discharge hose?

No. This is an actuation hose that transmits pneumatic actuation pressure between system components to trigger agent release. The agent itself travels through a separate distribution piping network from the tanks to the nozzles. These are distinct circuits in the R-102 system.
