Ansul Distribution Hose Assembly 435982

The Ansul Agent Distribution Hose Line Kit (P/N 435982) is a complete flexible connection assembly for use with castered cooking appliances in commercial kitchens protected by an Ansul R-102 restaurant fire suppression system. The kit consists of a 5 ft (1.5 m) agent distribution hose, a 3 ft (0.9 m) restraining cable, and a restraining cable hardware package.

This kit solves a specific installation problem: protected cooking appliances on casters need to be moved away from the wall periodically for cleaning under and behind the equipment, but standard rigid distribution piping cannot accommodate that movement. The 435982 flexible hose replaces the rigid piping connection at the appliance, allowing the appliance to be rolled out for cleaning without disconnecting the system's distribution lines. The restraining cable and hardware package limit the distance the appliance can be moved so it cannot be rolled out far enough to stress the hose fittings or put tension on the distribution line.

The kit connects to the distribution piping network through an adaptor (P/N 417707) and a check valve (P/N 25627), which prevents agent from flowing back into the system piping during standby and ensures proper flow direction during discharge. Nozzle spacing and hose routing must still comply with the R-102 system's design requirements, including the 36-inch minimum distance between R-102 and Piranha nozzles.

The R-102 system is a pre-engineered system under NFPA 17A and NFPA 96. Installation of this hose assembly must be performed by an Ansul certified distributor as part of the system's initial installation or service.

• Castered Appliances Only: This assembly is specifically designed for appliances mounted on casters. Do not use it as a substitute for standard rigid distribution piping on non-castered appliances.
• Restraining Cable Required: The included restraining cable and hardware must be installed alongside the hose to limit appliance travel. A hose installed without the restraining cable can be overstressed if the appliance is rolled out too far.
• Semiannual Professional Service: The hose, fittings, and restraining cable must be inspected for kinks, corrosion, loose connections, and damage at each required semiannual service interval.
• Post-Discharge Inspection: After any system activation, the hose assembly must be inspected and the full system recertified before returning to service.

Why does this kit include a restraining cable?

The restraining cable limits how far the castered appliance can be rolled away from the wall. Without it, an appliance could be moved far enough to place mechanical stress on the hose fittings or pull the hose into a kinked position, which could impair agent flow during a discharge or damage the fitting connection.

Can this hose be used on any cooking appliance?

No. This assembly is specifically designed and listed for use with castered cooking appliances that need to be moved for cleaning. For fixed appliances, standard rigid distribution piping is used. Your certified Ansul distributor determines during system design whether a castered hose assembly is appropriate for a given appliance.

Does the adaptor and check valve come with the kit?

No. The adaptor (P/N 417707) and check valve (P/N 25627) used with this assembly are separate components ordered through your Ansul distributor. The 435982 kit itself contains the hose, restraining cable, and cable hardware package.
