Wholesale PricingThe Ansul 429870 is a stainless steel enclosure for a single ANSUL agent cylinder in R-102 and Piranha kitchen fire suppression system installations. Think of it as the protective housing that the suppression cylinder lives in. It keeps the cylinder mounted securely in the right spot, protects it from grease splatter and impact in a busy kitchen environment, and gives the installation a clean, professional look. The stainless steel construction resists rust and corrosion in the moisture-heavy commercial kitchen environment far better than standard steel, making it the right choice for kitchens that see a lot of steam, cleaning chemicals, or humidity.
In a commercial kitchen, the suppression cylinder is usually mounted in the hood area or on a nearby wall where it's exposed to heat, grease vapors, and high-pressure spray cleaning. A steel enclosure that corrodes over time doesn't just look bad, it can compromise the cylinder's mounting security and make it harder for technicians to access during semi-annual inspections. The 429870 stainless steel construction eliminates that problem, especially in coastal restaurants, seafood kitchens, or any high-humidity environment where standard steel degrades quickly. The enclosure also keeps the cylinder and its actuation hardware organized and protected between service visits.
Built to meet UL and NFPA standards for ANSUL R-102 and Piranha system installations. Available through authorized ANSUL distributors. During every semi-annual NFPA 17A and NFPA 96 inspection, the technician will verify the enclosure is securely mounted, the enclosure cover closes and latches correctly, and the cylinder inside is properly secured. A damaged or unsecured enclosure is an inspection deficiency. For two-cylinder system configurations, see the dual tank enclosure (429872).

Install the 429870 enclosure per the ANSUL R-102 or Piranha system design drawings — the cylinder must be positioned in the location specified in the system design to maintain correct actuation tubing routing. Anchor the enclosure to a structural wall or framing capable of supporting the weight of a fully charged cylinder. Keep the enclosure cover closed between service visits to protect the cylinder and hardware inside. At every six-month NFPA 17A and NFPA 96 inspection, the technician will open the enclosure, inspect the cylinder and all internal components, and confirm the enclosure is secure before closing it back up. Document enclosure condition in the fire suppression system inspection record.
Why choose stainless steel over a standard steel enclosure?
Standard steel enclosures rust in the moist, high-grease commercial kitchen environment — especially if your kitchen uses high-pressure cleaning or is in a humid climate. Rust degrades the enclosure's structural integrity over time and can cause it to look unsightly or fail AHJ inspections. Stainless steel doesn't rust, making the 429870 a longer-lasting and lower-maintenance choice. It's the recommended option for any kitchen that regularly gets wet during cleaning.
My system has two cylinders. Which enclosure do I need?
For two-cylinder ANSUL R-102 or Piranha configurations, use the dual tank enclosure (429872) which houses both cylinders in a single unit. The 429870 is for single-cylinder installations only.
