The Ansul 24919 Stop Sleeves are replacement parts for ANSUL R-102 restaurant fire suppression systems, sold in a 10-pack. These sleeves slide over an R-102 system nozzle to prevent unintended agent discharge during installation or maintenance work — they physically block the nozzle outlet so that even if the system is accidentally activated while someone is working on it, no wet chemical agent sprays out of that particular nozzle. This is a critical safety tool that protects technicians and the kitchen environment during installation and servicing procedures.
When a fire suppression technician is installing or servicing an ANSUL R-102 system, working in the area directly below or near the suppression nozzles carries some risk of accidental system trip. The 24919 stop sleeves are the nozzle-level protection that prevents an accidental discharge from spraying wet chemical agent on the technician, the cooking equipment, or the kitchen itself — wet chemical agent cleanup after an accidental discharge is time-consuming, expensive, and takes the kitchen out of service. The stop sleeves are removed from all nozzles before the system is returned to armed service.
The 10-pack quantity provides enough stop sleeves to cover all nozzles in most standard ANSUL R-102 single-zone kitchen installations simultaneously. These are designed specifically for ANSUL R-102 nozzle profiles. Available through authorized ANSUL distributors. Always remove all stop sleeves before leaving the site at the end of any installation or service event — a system with stop sleeves installed on any nozzle cannot properly protect those cooking appliances during a real fire.

When to Install Stop Sleeves
Install 24919 stop sleeves on all R-102 nozzles at the start of any installation or service event where there is any risk of accidental system activation — including during detection cable tensioning, nozzle aiming, control head service, or any work that could inadvertently release the Automan actuation system. The ANSUL R-102 system installation manual specifies the procedure for installing and removing stop sleeves during each phase of installation.
Critical — Remove All Before Leaving
This cannot be overstated: every single stop sleeve must be removed from every nozzle before the system is returned to armed service and before the technician leaves the site. A nozzle with a stop sleeve installed will not discharge agent during a real fire — that cooking appliance is completely unprotected. Conduct a final walk-through count of all stop sleeves after service to confirm all have been removed before sign-off.
Are stop sleeves the same as nozzle caps?
No — they serve different purposes. Nozzle caps (like ANSUL nozzle caps) are installed permanently during normal system standby to keep grease and debris out of the nozzle orifice between inspections. Stop sleeves are temporary safety tools used only during installation and service work to prevent accidental discharge. Nozzle caps stay on the nozzles during normal kitchen operation. Stop sleeves are always removed before the system goes back into service.
