Description
Buckeye Kitchen Mister N-2HP Nozzle | 2 Flow Points | Green | Sold Individually

The Buckeye N-2HP is a 2-flow-point nozzle for the Buckeye Kitchen Mister Wet Chemical Fire Suppression System, identified by its green color band. The Kitchen Mister system uses a flow-point based design rather than a volume-based design: system cylinders (BFR-5, BFR-10, BFR-15, BFR-20) are rated by flow point capacity rather than agent volume, and each nozzle in the system consumes a set number of flow points from the cylinder it is connected to. The N-2HP consumes 2 flow points and is positioned and aimed at specific cooking appliances according to the Kitchen Mister Design, Installation, and Maintenance Manual.

All Kitchen Mister nozzles are model-number stamped for field identification and carry a color band to allow quick identification even in difficult-to-see locations. The five nozzles in the system are the N-1HP (blue, 1 flow point), N-1LP (red, 1 flow point), N-2HP (green, 2 flow points), N-2LP (yellow, 2 flow points), and N-2W (white, 2 flow points). Each has a different spray geometry for specific appliance and coverage applications; they are not interchangeable between positions in the system design.

The Kitchen Mister system eliminates the need for conduit inside the exhaust hood by using Buckeye Shielded Cable for the detection line, gas valve, and pull station connections. This simplifies installation significantly compared to traditional conduit-and-corner-pulley detection systems. The system is listed to UL-300 and UL-1254 and must be installed and maintained by a factory-trained, authorized Buckeye Fire Equipment distributor per NFPA 17A and NFPA 96.

  • Authorized Installer Required: Installation and maintenance must be performed by a factory-trained, authorized Buckeye Fire Equipment distributor per the Kitchen Mister Technical Manual (BFR-TM) and NFPA 17A and NFPA 96.
  • Flow Point Budgeting: Each N-2HP nozzle consumes 2 flow points from the connected cylinder. The total flow points of all nozzles on a cylinder must not exceed that cylinder's capacity (5, 10, 15, or 20 flow points for the BFR-5, -10, -15, -20 respectively). The certified installer verifies flow point allocation during system design.
  • Piping: System piping is 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch Schedule 40 black, chrome-plated, or stainless pipe. Galvanized pipe is not permitted. Piping volume limits between nozzles apply per the Kitchen Mister design manual.
  • Semiannual Service: All nozzles are inspected for blockage, physical damage, and correct positioning at each required semiannual service visit per NFPA 17A.

What is the difference between the N-2HP (green) and the N-2W (white)?

Both are 2-flow-point nozzles but with different spray geometries for different appliance and coverage applications. The N-2W is used in specific configurations where the longest side of the covered area must not exceed 50 inches. The N-2HP and N-2W are not interchangeable between positions; the system design specifies which nozzle type is correct for each location based on the appliance dimensions and nozzle placement parameters in the Kitchen Mister manual.

What does the Kitchen Mister system protect?

The Kitchen Mister system protects cooking appliances (ranges, fryers, griddles, and similar equipment), the exhaust plenum, and the exhaust duct in commercial kitchen installations. Agent is discharged as a fine wet chemical mist that suppresses grease fires through evaporative cooling, interruption of combustion, and saponification of hot cooking oils.

Why does this system use flow points instead of agent volume?

The Kitchen Mister cylinder capacity is rated by flow points rather than agent volume because the system's cylinder sizing is determined by the number and type of nozzles in the design, not by a fixed agent volume. This makes it easier for installers to design and select the correct cylinder size: count the total flow points of all nozzles in the system, then select the cylinder model whose capacity meets or exceeds that total.
