Description
FireTech FT916 Metal Fire Extinguisher Cabinet | 5 lb | Surface Mount | Galvanized Steel

The FireTech FT916 is a surface-mount metal fire extinguisher cabinet constructed of 20-gauge galvanized steel with a rust-resistant white powder-coat finish. It holds most 2.5 lb and 5 lb fire extinguishers and is suitable for both interior and exterior installations. The scored clear polystyrene break front allows quick visual inspection of the extinguisher's pressure gauge without opening the cabinet, and can be struck to break away in an emergency for rapid access. A keyed-alike cylinder lock secures the cabinet against unauthorized access or tampering while maintaining immediate availability during a fire event.

  • Galvanized Steel Construction: 20-gauge galvanized steel body with white powder-coat finish provides corrosion resistance for exterior installations or damp environments.
  • Scored Break Front: Clear polystyrene front panel is pre-scored to break cleanly under emergency pressure. Break-front strikers are sold separately and are used to consistently activate the break front without the risk of hand injury.
  • Keyed-Alike Cylinder Lock: Allows multiple FT916 units across a facility to share the same key for convenient inspection access by maintenance staff.

Is a break-front striker required?

The break-front striker is sold separately and is strongly recommended. The scored polystyrene panel is designed to break cleanly when struck with the striker, providing a controlled break. Without the striker, breaking the panel by hand risks cuts from jagged polystyrene edges. Most compliance inspectors recommend keeping the striker mounted adjacent to the cabinet.

Can this cabinet be used outdoors?

Yes. The galvanized steel body and white powder-coat finish are corrosion-resistant for outdoor use. For coastal or highly corrosive environments, verify with your local authority having jurisdiction whether additional cabinet protection is required.
