Amerex OEM MRM Enclosure - 13393

The Amerex 13393 is the stainless steel enclosure for the Amerex MRM and MRM II mechanical release modules. Its heavy-gauge stainless steel construction resists the pitting and oxidation caused by aerosolized grease and high-alkaline cleaning chemicals common in commercial kitchens and industrial environments, maintaining a hygienic surface and structural rigidity over the life of the installation.

Cover Interlock Safety Feature

The 13393's most significant engineering feature is its integrated cover interlock. The enclosure cover is precision-stamped with internal geometry that physically prevents it from seating if the MRM tension bar is in the "OFF" position. A technician cannot close and secure the cabinet with the system unarmed -- the cover will not snap into place until the tension bar is rotated to the "READY" position with all safety pins in place. This fail-safe design prevents a facility from being left with a dormant system after a service visit.

Viewport Inspection System

Two integrated status viewports allow monthly visual inspections without opening the cabinet. The top viewport confirms whether the MRM is armed. The lower viewport aligns with the nitrogen actuation cartridge pressure gauge to verify the energy source is in the green zone. Both viewports also allow visual confirmation that the internal lead security seal is intact, providing documented evidence that the system has not been tampered with between semi-annual inspection dates.

Knockout Flexibility

Multiple pre-drilled knockouts allow clean, low-profile routing of detection lines, cable conduit, and 1/4" actuation tubing. All unused knockouts should remain plugged to prevent pest ingress or moisture from reaching the internal microswitches and firing mechanism.

Semi-Annual Internal Audit

Every six months, a certified technician must open the 13393 to inspect the internal MRM mechanics. Check for any grease ingress that may have bypassed the cable seals, and verify the tension bar, safety pins, and firing mechanism are all in proper condition.

Viewport Hygiene

In high-grease kitchens, the viewing windows can cloud over with aerosolized grease film. Wipe the windows with a soft cloth and mild soap only -- abrasive cleaners will scratch the viewport, making the pressure gauge unreadable and resulting in a deficiency on the fire marshal inspection report.

Knockout Sealing

Verify at every inspection that all unused knockouts remain plugged. Open holes are an entry point for pests and excessive moisture that can damage the internal microswitches or corrode the firing mechanism.

Can the 13393 be used for both the MRM and MRM II modules?

Yes. The internal mounting pattern and dimensions are designed to be fully interchangeable between the MRM and MRM II modules. It is the authorized housing for both legacy and current-generation Amerex KP system releases.

What should I do if the cover won't snap into place?

Check the internal tension bar position. If the cover will not seat, the tension bar is almost certainly in the "OFF" or "DOWN" position. Rotate it to the "ARMED" position -- ensuring all safety pins are properly set -- and the cover should seat without resistance.

Does this cabinet include the nitrogen cartridge?

No. The 13393 is the enclosure only. The Amerex MRM module, nitrogen actuation cylinder, and all internal control hardware are separate components that must be sourced and installed independently.
