Photoelectric smoke detection technology is the preferred detection method for slow-smoldering fires — the type most commonly associated with commercial and residential fire fatalities. Detector Placement

What is the difference between PAD300-PD and PAD300-PHD?

The PAD300-PD is a photoelectric smoke-only detector. The PAD300-PHD adds an integrated heat sensor (rate-of-rise and fixed temperature) providing combination smoke and heat detection from a single addressable device. Specify the PHD for locations where both smoke and heat detection is required by the system design or AHJ.

Is a base included with the PAD300-PD?

No. The PAD300-PD detector head requires a separate PAD300-4DB (4-inch) or PAD300-6DB (6-inch) smoke detector mounting base. Order the appropriate base for your electrical box configuration alongside the detector head. The locking base tab prevents unauthorized detector removal and generates a panel trouble condition if the head is removed.

Can this detector be used in an ac smoke detector configuration?

No. The PAD300-PD is a low-voltage SLC-powered addressable device. It is not an ac smoke detector or smoke detector ac power unit. It requires a compatible Potter PAD addressable fire alarm control panel with an active SLC loop for power and communication.
