Description
Ansul Pulley Elbow, Compression Ring End Type | Pack of 50 | 423251

The Ansul 423251 is the compression ring end type pulley elbow for Ansul restaurant and industrial fire suppression systems, sold as a shipping assembly of 50 units. The individual unit part number is 423250. Pulley elbows are used in the cable-based detection and actuation networks of systems such as the R-102, PIRANHA, and Pyro-Chem Kitchen Knight II. Each pulley elbow contains a small sheave that redirects the stainless steel wire rope by 90 degrees as the cable routes around corners or changes direction inside 1/2-inch conduit. Without these pulleys, a sharp bend in the cable path would create excessive friction that prevents reliable cable travel when the detection link separates and tension is released.

The compression ring end type (423251) uses compression ring fittings to attach to the conduit sections on each side of the elbow. This makes it appropriate for installations where the conduit is joined using compression-style connections. The alternative end type is the socket end with set screws (Shipping Assembly P/N 415671, individual P/N 415670), which uses a different mechanical connection method. The two types are not interchangeable; the correct end type must match the conduit connection method used in the specific installation.

  • Detection and Pull Station Lines: Pulley elbows are used throughout the detection cable run and manual pull station cable lines to route the stainless steel wire rope around corners inside conduit. Per the Ansul manual, a Pulley Tee (P/N 427929) is a separate component used where two wire ropes meet at the same direction change point; it is not a substitute for the pulley elbow and cannot be used in the detection line.
  • Match End Type to Conduit: Confirm the conduit connection method used in the installation matches the compression ring end type before ordering. Socket end type installations require P/N 415671 instead.
  • Certified Installer Required: Installation and any modification to the detection cable network must be performed by an authorized Ansul distributor.

What is the difference between the compression end type (423251) and the socket end type (415671)?

Both redirect the detection cable by 90 degrees inside 1/2-inch conduit and are rated for the same maximum temperature. The difference is the end connection: the compression ring type (423251, individual 423250) uses compression ring fittings to join to the conduit, while the socket end type (415671, individual 415670) uses a socket with set screws. The correct type must match the conduit connection method specified in the system design and installation.

Why are these only sold in packs of 50?

Per the Ansul R-102 manual, pulley elbows are ordered through the Ansul shipping assembly, which packages them in quantities of 50. The shipping assembly format is designed for distributor and installer stock rather than single-unit retail purchases.
