Wholesale PricingThe Evergreen 916 Quik-Patch is a permanent, grease-proof mechanical hole seal calibrated for openings from 7/8" (22.2 mm) to 1" (25.4 mm) in commercial kitchen exhaust hoods and ducts. Under NFPA 96, every hood penetration must be liquid-tight to prevent grease from leaking into wall cavities or electrical components. The 916 restores this liquid-tight envelope using a nickel/chrome plated carbon steel body and a high-temperature gasket, with no welding or hot-work permits required.
The 916's blind mechanical design also makes it reversible -- unlike a weld repair, it can be removed if the kitchen layout changes and the penetration needs to be repurposed. Available individually (P/N 916) or in a 24-pack (P/N 919) for facility managers and contractors who need bulk inventory for system overhauls and AHJ inspections.
Compression and Gasket Micro-Lock
The 916 sandwiches the hood material between the plated cap body and a high-temperature gasket. As the nut is tightened, compressive force converts into surface pressure across the gasket face, causing the gasket to deform into the edges of the hole and create a micro-lock that physically stops grease migration. The gasket material is engineered to expand and contract at rates compatible with standard steel, preventing the thermal weeping common in non-OEM patches.

Surface Decontamination
Scour the area around the hole with a heavy-duty degreaser before installation. Grease on the hood surface will cause the gasket to slip under load, preventing a uniform metal-to-gasket contact and producing a seal that will eventually leak.
Gasket-First Rule
Ensure the high-temperature gasket is seated flush and square against the patch body before insertion. A twisted or off-center gasket will produce uneven sandwich pressure, leaving gaps that allow grease migration past the seal.
Wrench-Tightening and Seal Verification
Start the nut by hand, then finish with a wrench to fully engage the lock washer. A correctly installed 916 shows a slight, uniform bulge of gasket material around the edges of the cap -- this visible compression is the standard verification check during an AHJ or Fire Marshal walkthrough.
Can I use this patch for holes larger than 1 inch?
No. For holes exceeding 1 inch, the 916 will not have enough surface area to create a secure seal. Move up to the Evergreen 205 (holes up to 1-5/16") or the Evergreen 689 for larger openings. Using an undersized patch in an oversized hole is a fire risk and a compliance violation.
Is this patch removable if I need to repurpose the hole?
Yes. Unlike a weld repair, the 916 is a mechanical fitting that can be removed if the kitchen layout changes. This allows you to reuse or re-seal the penetration without damaging the hood, making it especially practical for facilities that modify their equipment configurations over time.
Does this patch work on both the hood and the duct?
Yes. The Evergreen 916 is tested to withstand the thermal conditions of an active exhaust plenum on both hood and duct surfaces, maintaining its pliable seal under sustained high-temperature operation.
